It was a very relaxing and almost perfect holiday: good company, warm, loads of sun, excellent food, interesting places and very warm people. It was snowing when we left the Netherlands so it was such a welcome respite to be greeted with a 20-22 C temperature in the Algarve. Lisbon was not too bad either averaging 18-19C, not too warm nor cold, just perfect for a preggy like me.

March is a good month to visit as their are less tourists and mostly you get to interact with the local Portuguese. Most of the time was spent along the Algarve Coast and a few days in Lisbon. So it was a good combination of the rustic and city life.

One thing we really enjoyed about Portugal is the food, mostly the fresh seafoods. You just simply know that the Portuguese are very proud of their cuisine. We explored a lot of restaurants where the locals would usually flock, and there you get the best of what the Portuguese could offer. We also enjoyed going to the market, choose the fresh catch of the day and have a relaxing lunch or dinner at our rented appartment. I was amazed how much fish and meat an average Portuguese would purchase. Makes me wonder what's cooking in their kitchen.
Portugal will always be a memorable and a special trip for us because we had loads of time to enjoy the two of us, reflect on the various transitions that we will go through, and plan for the seemingly unknown but exciting future. Simply put: we had a wonderful time. I guess I have to be also thankful that pregnancy has been good to me, which made traveling still very enjoyable. In the next few months, there will be the three of us, and while we were in Portugal we finally accomplished a shortlist of names for our dear little one.

Oh how nice. You know, we were in Algarve and Lisbon last year summer. We stayed in Praia da Oura, Albufeira... right in the heart of Algarve.
I had a seafood feast there! The best that I tasted was the sardines plate in Lisbon.
Great to know you had a great time there.
