Escape from the Flatlands

We are taking a much needed holiday. Since we postponed our trip to the Philippines until after I give birth, my husband and I decided to look for an alternative destination, somewhere closer but nonetheless warmer than the Netherlands. Somehow we both find it important to take this opportunity to celebrate our last remaining months as a couple without being distracted by a screaming child or the need for a nappy change.

For the next two weeks, our home will be a cosy rustic house somewhere in Algarve, a popular European winter destination, but fortunately the house is far enough to be away from the usual tourist hub. We will also spend two nights in Lisbon to explore the capital of Portugal. Perhaps we will also cross the border to Spain and visit Sevilla. I have been there once during the Le Feria de Sevilla but did not have enough time to explore the rest of the area. I look forward to spend a relaxing time with my husband, eat good food (read: fresh seafoods), drive around, laze about, lounge, and read loads and loads of books. Most of all, I look forward to leave the flatlands however momentary, and hopefully experience a much more appealing weather, not as warm as the Philippines, but pleasant enough to discard our winter coats. If worse comes to worst and the weather would not cooperate, I am still happy to take a break from the very predictable flatlands. photo credits: the nice photo was downloaded from the website: portugal photos and photographed by Mr. Pedro Correia
