My little bundle greeted me excitedly and kept shouting "Piet" when I picked her up from the kinderopvang (nursery). The nursery had a big celebration today in anticipation for the coming of Sinterklaas. All the kids were dressed up and my daughter was painted as if she's one of the black Piets.
Tomorrow is the big day for a lot of kids in Holland when Sinterklaas with the help of the Black Piets is finally coming to hand over their much awaited gifts.
Last year, my little bundle was just too young to bother about Sinterklaas. This year we can finally introduce her to this Dutch tradition. Strange enough, she's really not into Sinterklaas. She would rather be with the Black Piets and the white horse of Sinterklaas.
I'm really looking forward to celebrate Sinterklaas tomorrow. I could hear hubby now struggling and (secretly?) wrapping some gifts. So much for surprises...
