When I opened the door, I was surprised to see my American friend waving happily to me. I am quite used to unannounced visits (even from our usually agenda oriented Dutch friends), but I never really expected an impromptu visit from her. With my perplexed look, I asked H if she was in the area or if we had any plans for the night which I completely forgot.
Her answer: "I have none, but you do. Get dressed and be ready by 8:00 pm". She also told me to pack some clothes.
Hubby was behind and smiled cheekily. "We (i.e. me and hubby) are going out on a date".

As usual hubby was able to pull through another surprise which he planned with my friend H, who offered to babysit for the night.
It has almost been 3 months since hubby and I have been out on a date--just the two of us. Now more than ever, we really cherish the limited chances we get to spend time as a couple.
Simple joys, private moments can indeed make a difference.
