Where did my baby go?

We are feeling very sentimental nowadays. Whenever we look at our daughter, we could not help but be amazed by how fast she has grown, in the blink of an eye.
Since hubby and I are first time parents, the development milestones of our daughter has been a very interesting discovery. She is becoming more independent and has definitely a mind of her own. We are slowly realizing that she is no longer a baby, even if we still consider her as one.
Our daughter is also developing her own interests and skills such as "reading" books, doodling, "gardening", electrical works, cleaning the floor, chasing birds, and climbing wherever. Since she turned 13 months, she wanted to self feed and refused any help from mum and dad. And oh how she loves food! In fact, she loves to eat sinigang and adobo. Traveling with our daughter is also a joy. She just loves the outdoors so we really try to make it a point to be out, weather permitting.
Two weeks ago, we traveled to France to meet up with my relatives from my dad's side who all flew from Boston to join a tour in France. It was a really special family reunion because for most of my aunts and uncles, it was the first time they met my daughter. It was doubly special because my mum also decided to fly back to Europe and join the tour despite the fact that she has just visited us last July-August. This time, my mum wanted to witness her granddaughter walk, a milestone she missed when she came here last summer. I guess the granny also wants to spend as much time with her granddaughter, a rare opportunity given the distance between Europe and the Philippines.
I made sure to teach my daughter a few tricks such as the "mano po", "beautiful eyes", and all sorts of tricks enough to entertain my family and the rest of the Americans who were part of the tour group. Enough tricks to make the aunts, uncles and the granny go crazy such that we left France as if my daughter had some sort of a fundraising activity.
My husband and I are enjoying this stage of our daughter's life. We just love to see her antics, hear her "talk", witness her dance or hum a tune, and see her constantly challenge us in so many ways. She brings so much joy and laughter to our lives.
We love being parents and I just love being a mum.
