Sniff...sniff...my husband and I are both sick. I guess our bodies just sort of gave in after all the festivities. We have been catching up on our sleep for the last three days, literally just waking up to get some food and medication. Today I feel a lot better but my poor hubby needs more time to recover.

We really enjoyed our christmas festivities this year. It was hectic but surely fun. Besides, I always look forward to the visit of my brother-in-law and his family from London, and to the endless chattering and bantering. The kids certainly loved the exchange of gifts which is not customarily done by the Dutch on Christmas day. New Year's eve was just like in the Philippines, loads of fireworks, the usual midnight toasts and drinks on the table served with the traditional
olie bolen. It almost felt as if I were in Manila when the new young neigbours of my MIL made a huge bonfire on the street to keep everyone warm, and of course to keep the fireworks going.
Certainly it is not the best start to the year to be sick. My husband and I also think that we are experiencing momentary winter blues because usually by this time of the year, we are in the Philippines, basking under the sun to avoid the dreary European winter. But alas our trip to the Philippines this year has to be scheduled for a later date, so we are desperately looking for an alternative destination where we can enjoy the full benefits of the sun even for a short period. We still have no idea where
this will be, it doesn't really matter as long as we can enjoy a temperature of no less than 20 degrees.
I am surely dreaming about the sunny Philippines and wish it could be a short two hours flight away. Just some wild dream.

Sha, we are actually thinking about Crete or perhaps Sicily? But Crete might still be quite cold in February.

I bloghopped from al bjornstad site. I was attracted by the name of your blog which is almost the same as my photoblog's name:
"My sarisari store". Since I am a Belgian I understood the "winkel" thing! :-)
