Pauze in Dutch means a break. I have been meaning to write but never had the chance to do so. The past few weeks have been a mixed of excitement, pleasure, frustration, anxiousness, nervousness, some disapointments, procrastination, laziness, and just basically juggling priorities. So I guess the best way to describe the last four weeks is me having a roller coaster ride.

It will be herfts vakantie (autumn break) soon, and my husband and I will be off for a short break. Another break. Strangely I have considered myself on a break for the last 12 months or so-- in fact far too long. I guess this feeling is due to the fact that I am so used to working, and going to school while maintaining a household is really not the same. Surely I need to change this type of mindset, if not now, perhaps in the future. My mom would always argue that being a full time housewife (and mother) already kept her hands full. It is not for everyone mom, I would usually argue back. My husband on the other hand would always say that I have to enjoy the break while it last, and he teasingly said that perhaps when I get a job, he would not mind taking a pauze as well.
For the vakantie, I suggested to my husband that perhaps we can explore the islands of Zeeland or Friesland. I have only been in Friesland for half a weekend but never been to the Zeeland area. Unfortunately I have not much recollection of Friesland except for the fact that my then future MIL celebrated her birthday there, and the following morning, I had to rush to Groningen airport to take the next plane to London. Wherever we decide to go, I am just looking forward to a change of scenery and enjoy the beauty of the autumn season.
So I guess I am taking a pauze from school, from job hunting and from the household chores. It sure feels that am taking a break from my break.

Enjoy your autumn break! I always look forward to fall, it can be quite awesome. I hope you guys can visit me here soon.
hopefully by next year we can go. so many places to see, so many people to visit, unfortunately, there is limited time and not to mention we have to save up too :-)
Hope your herfstvakantie went well! Breaks are always relaxing.
Friesland has a different language called Fries. They say its more related to English though I can't really understand why. They also have a strange accent when speaking Dutch. I've been to several pockets in Friesland but never to their capital city, Leeuwarden.
